Niall Mellon Township Trust – Table Quiz

January 12, 2009

If there is an advertising value to this blog, we are pointing it firmly in the direction of the Niall Mellon Township Trust. So as we’ve never asked our readers to look at general… profitable… ads… Well not its time to pay up.

We are holding a table quiz in Madigans of Donnybrook at 8pm on Thursday 29th January. A fun night will be had by all and a better cause you will not find.

So come on down, see you there

Greennav goes to Cape Town – Pimp the blog

November 24, 2008

Blogging will slow for the next 2 weeks on this blog as I’m off to Cape Town on the Niall Mellon Township Trust Builders Week 2008.

The plan is however to blog through the week on the sights and sound of the week on my new personal blog Please help out by

  • Making a donation to the NMTT (Directly or through whoever you know who is collecting)
  • Sign up for next year
  • Write a post about the NMTT on your own blog during the week
  • Put a NMTT (or other charity) button on your side bar (you can steal mine)
  • Pimping my blog to others ( who might do one of the above – lets face it….. this is what I really want to happen)

GreenNav Supports the Niall Mellon Township Trust

March 24, 2008

Having hummed and hawed for a while about advertising here at GreenNav, I think we’ve come upon a plan that will work well. The site is now “supporting” the Niall Mellon Township Trust. We still won’t run ads (unless people tell us they think it is appropriate) , but are encouraging visitors to support the charity instead.

People can support the trust in one of 4 ways

  1. Volunteer to go to Capetown. Last year Patrick went on the trip and was very impressed
  2. Click the link on our site and donate money directly
  3. Donate money to some other volunteer. They aim to have over 2000 volunteers this year so I expect you’ll all probably know someone
  4. Come to the event we plan on holding in a bit, you can donate then!

Thanks to all for your support in advance

Greennav Update

March 6, 2008

Hi all, so here we are. 4 months in. time for another update.

Firstly I’d like to thanks all the readers, subscribers and commenter’s. The numbers are very fulfilling.

Mostly however I’d like to thank the writers. The idea of the blog is to kick off a community of green bloggers, and getting up to four in one month is really good (well… one is Tony… does he count?)

So to finish… more more more. We want more readers. We want more mentions on all your blogs. We want more feedback on topics you want covered, AND we want you to write for the blog too.

So folks… in your court!

Greennav blog – How is it going

February 20, 2008

So two weeks of obsessively looking at the wordpress stats page, and very happy with what I’ve been seeing, this post is about what topics have been popular, and what has brought visitors to the blog.

Greennav gets a bump

user graph

Following a relatively quiet first few days, the blog got some great bumps when it was mentioned by Eirepreneur, Tom Raftery and Conor O’Neill. WordPress allows you to see what links people have used to find your site, and the lads links have been really helpful… really. It leads me to think a lot about the power of the blog to advertise. In the future, if I put a link to a boiler, or insulation manufacturer or power company, what an effect it could have. It is serious responsibility, and leads me to believe… for the first time ever… that Mulley might have a point… (joke… really… he never has a point!)

On a side note to this I’d like to add a donations to Niall Mellon Township trust button on the side of my page. If some of the more web savvy among you would like to create a button for me (and anyone else who might want it) that would be cool. I mean, shouldn’t everyone have a link like that on their blog.

Search engines really do work

WordPress also gives you the pretty fantastic feature of letting you see what terms people have searched for that found their way to your site, and despite the site only being 2 weeks old, it is doing really well. What is also really interesting is that the search terms. When I wrote the post on boilers… I thought… boring… but on the search engine front… wow…

So what I’m saying is, if you have a non-standard topic to write about… the internet really wants you…

Finally… Comments and other writers

The idea of this site is not for me to write stuff. Come on… I’m a bad writer, and sick of listening to myself. If you have a topic that you would like to write about… please do. Martin has decided to use the site as a way to justify his youtube fetish, that’s fine with me. Any format, any style, that’s fine with me (on green stuff though)
